Meridian Flea Market Tapes
Title
Meridian Flea Market Tapes
Description
Unaccompanied gospel hymn singing captured on cassette tape in the 1980s and 1990s. The tapes were purchased from a Meridian, Mississippi, flea market in 2023.
Our description of each recording includes any and all available information: typically a few words, written by hand on the cassette labels or cases. A few cassettes in the larger collection are labeled "Taped by Edna," providing our only clue about the recordings' creator.
If you can help identify these singers or congregations -- or Edna -- please write to burgin@southernmusicresearch.org. The Southern Music Research Center welcomes any information.
