Title

Music Memories and Jazz Report (Winter 1963)

Description

Winter 1963 issue of Music Memories and Jazz Report (Vol. 3, No. 6). The issue marked the merger of Patrick Cather's Birmingham-based Music Memories Monthly with the Ventura, California-based Jazz Report, edited by Paul Affledt. Included in this issue, along with news of that transition, are an historic photo of Birmingham's Fred Longshaw Orchestra, circa 1924; a short autobiographical essay by Western Swing pioneer Leon "Pappy" Selph, along with a discography of Selph's Blue Ridge Playboys; blues columns by Chris Strachwitz and Mike Leadbitter; listings for record auctions and sales; and more.
